A Colorful Peppa Pig Birthday

Updated: Jun 23, 2021

Oh how time flies! Our daughter turned two! She is such a sweet and happy little girl, who is a BIG fan of Peppa Pig. Though we watch it in Russian, she knows all about the muddy puddles, the songs, all the characters, and that Peppa Pig lives near London. :) Even my four-year-old son loves to watch it...and they watch it over and over! But hey, better than some of the other cartoons out there, right?

So in the spirit of my love for themed parties, I decided to really make it special for our daughter. She did not have a first birthday party due to the pandemic, and even though we only invited a few people, in addition to family, she still had a blast!

THE DECOR

I decided to keep to the basics of Peppa Pig...pink (of course!), lots of flowers (Peppa Pig loves her flowers) and greenery. It came out to look like a garden setting from the cartoon. Very cute!

I'm always a big fan of organized chaos in the decor. :) I know, I know...but it works! I decided to stick to the main colors of the cartoon - pink, red, green, yellow and blue. Yes, that is a lot of colors, but they made the overall design very colorful! I think the next time I do something like this, I will definitely use boxwood hedge panels to give it that 3D look. The colorful pails hanging on the backdrop with various flowers were just what the background needed to blend into the dessert table design. I was also going to hang various picture frames with our daughter's photos and pictures of Peppa and her family, but unfortunately, I didn't get around to it. It would have been a great addition to the background. Next time! :)

THE DETAILS

It's always in the details! I love putting a little detail there, a little detail here. I had a lot of the Peppa Pig character figurines, benches, flowers, pails, boxwood ball topiaries, rubber boots as "flower pots", etc.

I really loved the flowers in the rubber boots since Peppa loves jumping in muddy puddles in her rubber boots! I tried to make it look like a garden setting with watering pails and grassy patches to place the little figurines as if they are having a picnic. It turned out adorable!

I also found a large garden bicycle in Home Goods, where I placed flower pots, and it was a perfect setup for the party favors. For party favors, we had Peppa Pig stickers, car surprise, Peppa story books, Peppa chocolate surprise.

THE DESSERTS

Oh these were sooo good! The cake was ordered from our favorite bakery, and as is their practice, they made it exactly like the photo I sent them. We also ordered macarons, which we placed on an adorable pink dessert Ferris wheel and a blue wooden keepsake box, and little meringue baskets with fruit jelly inside. These baskets were what Soviet children loved to eat back in the 80s and 90s. :)

Of course, I could not help myself and I made little piggy noses out of large marshmallows and pink colored white chocolate. The children loved them! I always like to have some kind of fruit on the table, so I made little berry cups. I found these cute heart-shaped cups and placed various berries inside covered with whipped cream and a whole strawberry.

THE FOOD

Since this birthday was for small children, I thought it would be great to have food they like with a Peppa Pig theme. I found two awesome and easy recipes for piggy pizzas and sandwiches (bread, Havarti cheese, turkey breast, avocado and cucumbers) in the form of Peppa Pig's head. :) I found Peppa Pig cookie cutters, which I used to cut the bread, cheese and turkey breast. The food for adults were salads and sandwiches from Costco.

For a post-pandemic birthday, this turned out to be a great start! It was nice to finally be out with other people celebrating our little girl! To many more celebrations!!
