Well, the quarantine birthday for my son came and went, and our daughter's 1st birthday was coming up a month later. We had such plans for her 1st birthday as well! Just like with our son's 1st birthday, we were going to host it at our friend's and coworker's home with the large lawn. I was debating between a Parisian garden theme or a Moroccan theme. I know, complete opposites, but there is so much you can do with those themes! I was so excited, and then the pandemic came and decided to stay, ruining all our plans. But life goes on, and health and family is more important.
So we did the same thing as for our son, and our daughter's 1st birthday was at home with virtual calls to her grandmothers and uncles. Since I never settled on a theme for her birthday, I ended up using whatever decorations I had in our home, mostly from her own baby shower. I must say, it turned out pretty good! :)
I covered the china cabinet with lace and hung a lace fabric bunting with pearls and flowers. I covered the wall clock with another piece of lace and hung a large lace umbrella with pearls on it. I was worried it would not hold, but it did! Guess these hands were made for something! :D ha! I tacked a few pink balloons around the lace "curtain", placed some small pink suitcases (which actually now house my daughter's socks and hair accessories :D), a pink chest as a cake stand with two small lace umbrellas and vases with roses creating a border around the cake. It turned out to be a beautiful pink vintage theme for our princess!
The cake was beautiful! As always, I gave our go-to bakery a photo of a cake I found online, and they made an exact replica! I was so in love with this cake that I was devastated when I dropped it during the singing of "Happy Birthday". I guess holding the cake with one hand while handling a 3-year-old is not a good idea. :D

I guess the mommy of the one-year-old decided to be the one to participate in the "cake smashing". )))) Well, at least we were able to get the photos of the cake before it became a "smash the cake" session...haha! :D
I was happy with how it all turned out, and it was a perfect backdrop for our one-year old photo session! Hopefully, we will be able to have an awesome celebration for her 2nd birthday and make up for this year's simple party. We made the best of it and had a wonderful time with the four of us! Family - that is what it's all about!
